Building a Sustainable Society
Through Human Creativity

Since establishment, PLAID has focused on people and have thrived to enrich their lives based on our purpose "PLAY&AID" and our mission to "Maximize the Value of People with the Power of Data".

The "Value of People" on which our business and product development focus refers to the inventiveness, intuition, creativity, and other abilities each person has regardless of age, ethnicity, nationality, or gender.

As a result of the increasing industrial sophistication and specialization, creativity seems to be treated as more like a skill possessed only by a special handful of people, but we don’t believe this is how the world should be. We believe every job has the potential for people to fully bring out their immense creativity and significantly increase their value. By utilizing data and technology, we want to make a drastic impact on this added value people can generate, for the world and society.

Through this belief in the "Value of People" and our business itself, we hope to contribute to the realization of a sustainable society. The big goals set forth with SDGs are not things that can easily be accomplished in a top-down style. Instead, we can bring out the creativity of individuals or businesses, support people to make better decisions, support the actions, and spread this circulation of creativity. We are hoping to be a part of producing this huge impact that can all start from an individual.

Final important point we want to mention is that the foundation in which people can fully bring out their potential is an environment where individual human rights and diversity are respected. In our corporate activities, we will continue to create opportunities and environments that enable people with diverse backgrounds to fulfill their potential. This diversity includes gender expression, sexual orientation, religions, nationalities, ethnicities, gender identities, physical and/or mental disabilities, and child and/or family caregiving status. At the same time, as a trustworthy company growing with and as part of the society, we will address environmental issues from where possible and focus on structuring a governance system that is appropriate for the nature and stage of our business.

We look at our business in a ultra long term span and we regularly express this internally as we are only at the beginning of the journey. As we look forward to this distant future, we will continue with the endeavor of making this world a better place, not just for ourselves but for our clients, corporate partners, and consumers.

Materiality Identification

Materiality Identification Process

In order to contribute to the development of a sustainable society through our business activities and to enhance our corporate value, we have identified materialities (important issues) that we must prioritize.

Identify social issues
We identified a wide range of environmental, social, and economic issues based on international standards and guidelines such as the GRI Standards and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), as well as the evaluation items of major ESG evaluation organizations.
Identify issues and confirm their importance
After organizing the issues and opportunities in the social and business environments and in the value chain, we categorized 15 materialities into three groups and identified them as essential issues from the perspective of their importance in building a sustainable society and enhancing our sustainable corporate value.
Identify issues and confirm their importance
Communication with stakeholder
Based on the proposed materialities organized in Step 2, we conducted interviews with experts and ESG investors.
Assessment by Board Members
The identified materialities are assessed by our Management Committee and our Board of Directors. We will continue to monitor and review the materialities in a timely manner.
